Pissed at the Pumps
3/11/11 - Here comes that freely expressed emotion I've told you about. I’m peeved. Smokin’ out my ears, spittin’ nails, wish I could call my Italian family type PISSED!
GAS PRICES!!!! Really???? Come on we have more oil in storage now than ever before and for that matter, why are we still using OIL??? This is 2011 people; we were supposed to be hovering in the air like the Jetsons by now.
What can we do? We already tried the not buying gas for a day” thing but that was more of an inconvenience to us than a real problem for them. After all, contrary to popular belief, vehicles and gas ARE a necessity – especially in California.
Recently I received and email urging all to stop buying gas from the two largest companies (which are now one) Exxon and Mobile. However, that won’t really work either, according to some on snopes.com, since the oil company’s outlet for gasoline is not only its own branded service. Gasoline is a fungible, (cool word, huh? It means being of such nature or kind as to be freely exchangeable or replaceable, in whole or in part, for another of like nature or kind) commodity so if one oil company’s product is not being bought in a particular market they will simply sell to other outlets.
It seems driving less is the only straightforward practical way to reduce gas prices and how many of us are willing to do that? Maybe in New York, and cities alike, where mass transit runs like roaches through walls, but then there would be more people requiring mass transit, more buses and trains to operate and still more gas needed.
Ugh! Like I said, I’m PISSED!
