Oh the wonderful world of chocolate!
Want to know an amazing thing about the big “D” (divorce if you haven’t been keeping up) word? Chocolate at two in the morning! That’s what…. The feel of smooth milk chocolate swirling around the mouth with creamy marshmallow lingering on the tongue(it’s Easter time, marshmallow egg season) no longer gets traumatized by, “You’re eating THAT at two in the morning?” Oh, and, “what are you doing up, come back to bed?”
I was very covert in the wee hours of the morning; looking over the pillow at Mr. (snore like a tornado) Partner confirming he was asleep. I’d gingerly pull back the covers and sneak out of bed tiptoeing out the room. “Close that door before you go,” I’d say to myself, and, “oh, careful of that squeaky floor board.” Whew, usually made it. At least until I got to the kitchen. It never ceased to amaze me that the tiny seal of the refrigerator door or the soft hum of a teapot could be heard from the other side of the house with the bedroom door closed but the locomotive train Mr. Partner slept with every night, THAT he couldn’t hear.
I oftentimes have whims of fancy at two in the morning. Heck, that’s when I do my best stuff. What stuff? Who cares, it MY best stuff. Get your own. Freedom to indulge in whatever, to your heart’s content without judgment or explanation is a serendipity of the big “D” to cherish. Oh please, don’t whine. I know there are lots and lots of benefits to being married and having a life partner (even though I can’t think of one) but this is MY diary and I’m not writing about that now. I’m Indulging!
And if you’re peeking at my diary again, don’t be rude, share. What are your secret nighttime indulgences?
